Quench & Pickle

Unique hand-crafted jewellery by local artist, Gail McKendry.

Gail is a contemporary jeweller based south of Glasgow and whose material of choice is Silver. She creates simple forms which are then layered with pattern and texture providing contrasts in the finished piece - polished next to matt or oxidised, textured and patterned silver alongside smooth. Gail's inspiration comes from the natural world, in particular landscapes, plant forms, seedpods and her own pen & ink drawings. She studied Jewellery and Silversmithing at Cardonald College before completing a BA Honours Degree in 3Dimensional Design at Grays School of Art.

Layer upon layer of fine-grained, foliated rock fused together over time under low heat and huge pressure to create the unique slate we use in all our products.
The Just Slate design team harness this character to produce our range of stylish and hand-crafted tableware.
From our workshops in Scotland we hand-cut each individual slate piece to fit with our contemporary designs. By striking the raw slate correctly a skilled craftsman or women can split the layers to create a flat surface with the detailed “riven” edge surround.
Throughout the production process we focus on the elegance of the finished product and using traditional methods each piece of slate is selected, cut, shaped, felted, oiled and inspected before packing.

Pintail Candles is a family run business, founded by James & Fiona Long in 1993. We are located in Flookburgh, on the northern shores of Morecambe Bay, Cumbria.
We started out making decorative pillar candles, but soon progressed onto fragranced tin candles, for which we have been among the market leaders for many years. Now in our 22nd year of business, we supply a wide range of shops on the high street, from small independents to own label products for large department stores, both within the UK and many countries around the world.
All of our products are conceived and designed on site in Flookburgh, and our candles are hand poured by a highly skilled local workforce.

Darach is a small family run company, based in Inverness, the capital of the Scottish Highlands.  At Darach we take pride in creating quality furniture and gifts from vintage oak whisky barrels.  Each one of our products is individually hand crafted, ensuring that every Darach product is unique.
At Darach we recognise and respect the long history and tradition of our whisky barrels and their intriguing story.  Our barrels start their lives as storage vessels for sherry or bourbon, before moving on to their better known role of storing whisky until it reaches maturity, a process which can take decades.  When the barrel has finally completed this vital and principal task we take it to the Darach workshop and breathe new life into it as part of our stunning range of beautiful, unusual and functional pieces.
